Measuring Lamp Shades: When shopping for a custom or replacement shade, you want to make sure you purchase the right size. When you measure your existing lampshade, you’ll need the following dimensions:

-- Measure the top width / diameter
-- Measure the vertical height
-- Measure the bottom width / diameter

Once you measure your existing shade, you can start your search for custom or replacement lamp shades of comparable width/height. However, most lamps and fixtures look great with a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles.
